Twelve-time boxing world champion Manny Pacquiao looks to dominate the cryptoworld with his announcement that he is launching his very own cryptocurrency. The boxing champion who is also a full-time politician, actor and singer announced the launch in style at a free concert in his home town of Manila, Philippines.
The appropriately dubbed “Pac Token” will be listed on Singapore’s Global Crypto Offering Exchange (GCOX) which is looking to launch several other celebrity tokens. GCOX Founder and CEO Jeffrey Lin outlined that the token is not intended to just raise money but to build a token ecosystem. The 40-year-old boxer, who defeated Keith Thurman to win the WBA Welterweight Super Championship in July hopes to cash in on his “Pac” tokens, which will allow fans to buy his merchandise and interact with him via social media.
According to reports tennis ace Caroline Wozniacki, football star Michael Owen and world-renowned singer Jason Derulo also plan to launch their own crypto tokens with GCOX.
“We are not here to raise a lot of money but to build an ecosystem,” GCOX Founder and CEO Jeffrey Lin said.
GCOX’s chief communications officer Evan Ngow commented: “We are committed to assembling a diverse, multi-talented array of stars at GCOX, and Jason will certainly not be the last musician to join our ranks.”
