Disrupting and breaking new grounds in any industry is never an easy feat, especially in the financial sector. Aristos Christofides, CTO, is the individual who has been spearheading the PumaPay project for over 12 months and we caught up with him to get an update on the project and his views for the upcoming year
It has been over a year since you joined PumaPay as CTO, are you still excited about the project?
“It has been a rollercoaster of a year as we push the boundaries of what is possible in our industry. We have surpassed even our own expectations! Our team has increased from a handful of developers to over 24 members spanning across 2 continents and working on parallel projects. We have also expanded our QA department to give us the capability to test multiple products simultaneously. All these instrumental changes have allowed us to create a truly dynamic product.”
Have you achieved your targets?
“Great question! We’re in a much more dominant position that we thought we would be in at this stage. Being a startup in such a new and fascinating industry requires us to push the envelope of innovation to ensure that we achieve our goals. We strongly believe that we have made an impact in our industry and are within touching distance of the tipping point! It has been a journey of transformation; from a nascent startup to becoming market leaders in our sector and establishing ourselves in the crypto acquiring service.”
“Our biggest challenge was building the team and aligning them to our goals. With any intricate project like ours, it is the team that makes the difference and for the PumaPay Payment System to work, as a team, we created a unique PullPayment architecture of smart-contracts. It was technically challenging, and we had to manage expectations, both my own as well as my teams. We’ve had to develop multiple projects simultaneously with a finite amount of resources. We powered through any obstacles that came our way and kept innovation at the forefront of development. We’ve created an entire department entrusted with implementing the vision of the project, staying true to our White Paper, and ensuring the project board was kept up to date with our progress.”
“These coming 12 months are key to the evolution of PumaPay. I have personally experienced every type of emotion during the infancy of PumaPay, often working very long hours to achieve our target. We want to make sure that all of our hard work comes to fruition. We believe in our vision and direction, “Today we are a startup business focusing on innovation. Tomorrow, we will be true visionaries defining innovation.”
