PumaPay’s tour around Asia continued, as the company bringing flexible crypto payments to the masses hosted its first meetup in Hanoi, Vietnam this weekend.
Yoav Dror, CEO and co-founder of PumaPay, addressed an audience of about two hundred, explaining how PumaPay’s blockchain based payment solution will revolutionize the billion-dollar payments industry for merchants and consumers.
“PumaPay aims to disrupt the global payments industry and we see the Asian market as a great place to start. Our goal is to provide merchants and payment service providers with blockchain capabilities to ensure faster transactions without any fees for customers, among other benefits. Our blockchain-based “pull payment” mechanism inverses the mechanics of transactions, allowing merchants to “pull” funds from customers’ wallets, based on pre-approved terms, a concept that can be very beneficial for countries like Vietnam,” Dror stated during his keynote discussion.
Although Vietnam is one of South East’s Asia’s fastest developing economies, there are goals of modernizing the country to reach developed nation status by 2020, as well as becoming a leading FinTech Hub. The rise of Fintech in Vietnam has been fueled by the country’s high Internet and mobile penetration rates, and its young, hyper-connected demographic. Vietnam is part of the top 20 countries in the world known for the number of citizens that have direct access to the Internet.
“A high percentage of Vietnam’s population are connected to the Internet and are using smartphones. This positions the country as having the necessary market and infrastructure needed to ignite mass cryptocurrency adoption. This meetup has proven how excited the locals are about cryptocurrency and PumaPay’s Payment Solution,” Dror said.
Moreover, PumaPay recently became listed on the leading cryptocurrency exchange, OKEx. The meetup in Hanoi was in conjunction with OKEx, as the exchange is also excited to be partnering with PumaPay.
During the panel discussion, “The New Era of Blockchain Payment Methods,” Mr. William Lee, listing manager of OKEx, mentioned that the partnership with PumaPay has already been beneficial for both parties and it will continue to grow moving forward.
“PumaPay is a well developed crypto payment solution for businesses, which already has initiated real use cases. I’m glad to have PumaPay listed on OKEx and I hope that we can cooperate with each other is payment solutions and other fields in the future,” Lee said.
Thanh Dao, Founder of Nexty.io, a blockchain platform for e-commerce, also mentioned that PumaPay has the same vision as Nexty does for the future of payments.
“We will have more chances to collaborate with PumaPay in the future, which is really exciting for us,” Dao said.
After the panels and presentations came to an end, the audience burst into cheers and laughter as a game to win a ledger wallet concluded the Hanoi meetup. Three winners were chosen based on their correct responses to questions that covered the information discussed during the event. It’s also noteworthy to mention that a large percentage of the audience were female, highlighting the diversity of the crypto and blockchain space in Vietnam.
